What exactly are we calculating for when we are calculating the percentage protonated?

We need to calculate proton concentration (H+) at equilibrium divided by Initial concentration * 100.

When we calculate percent protonated we are finding the percent of the original base or acid that has dissociated during the course of the reaction

The percent protonated is calculated for a base with the equation final concentration of protons/initial concentration * 100%. Similarly, the percent de-protonated is calculated for an acid.

Hello,
When we are calculating the percent protonation we are finding the percent of the original acid or base that has dissociated during the reaction process. In order to do this we must calculate the proton concentration of [H+] at the state of equilibrium and divide it by the initial concentration, multiplied by 100. Which would give us the percent protonation.

Hi!
We are calculating how much the base deprotonated: how the concentration of hydroxide compares to the concentration of the original base. This is calculated by [OH^-]/[Initial Base] *100. Strong bases deprotonate completely and thus have a higher percentage than weaker bases. This concept is helpful to remember when trying to double check if your calculated percentage makes sense.

You are calculating how many H+ ions were generated from a weak acid dissociating. This is why it is change/initial, to see how many of the weak acid molecules actually donated an H+.

When calculating the percentage protonated, you must divide the H+ concentration by the initial concentration and then multiply it by 100.

Percent protonated, as the name suggests, is about the percent of the original substance that had been protonated while reaching equilibrium. In our ICE model, the amount protonated will be the molar concentration [H+], which will be the "x" value we calculate. We use the initial concentration of the original substance and we divide x by that amount, as what we essentially want is to find out how much of the original concentration has become "x" when the reaction reaches equilibrium. Then you would multiply that by 100 to get the percentage.

Percentage protonated means the concentration of hydronium or hydroxide ions over the initial concentration of the acid or base, respectively.

How I solve this problem is

Percentage protonated is the concentration of H= ions divided by the initial concentration. You then multiply by 100 to get the percent.

Percent protonated/deprotonated compares the amount of H3O+/OH- in the solution as compared to the initial concentration of the compound, so when calculated as a percentage it shows the percent of the compound that was protonated/deprotonated, as weak acids do not dissociate completely.

Percentage protonated or protonation is how much of an acid or base is dissociating. This idea typically refers to weak acids and bases as strong ones can almost dissociate completely, therefore, have a percentage protonation that is nearly 100%. The purpose of finding the percentage protonation is to see how much of a reactant was able to be consumed in order to form its conjugate on the products side of a chemical reaction.

You are calculating to find the OH- concentration once equilibrium is reached versus how much existed at the beginning of the reaction (equilibrium value/initial ... *100 to get your percent)

percent protonation refers to the percent of base molecules that have been protonated (accepted a proton). and percent deprotonation refers to how much the acid loses its proton.

As everyone here has already commented on the definition, I will also mention the math behind this: all you need to do is take your x that you got from the ICE table and put it over the initial M of the acid/base. This works for both protonation and deprotonation. This is already the decimal of how much was protonated, so if it helps to visualize, multiply this by 100 to get the percentage.

When we are calculating for percentage protonated we are looking at the ratio of the concentration of the protonated compound and the original concentration multiplied by 100. Protonated basically is stating the addition of a proton, which can result in a conjugate acid.

The percent protonation is what percentage of the starting substance has turned into its respective ion. For example, when an acid dissociates into H+ and its conjugate base, we will see a larger percent protonation if more H+ ions are produced (the same goes for a base producing OH-).

You use percent protonated we are looking at weak bases. You can find percent protonated by dividing the concentration of hydroxide ions at equilibrium and by the initial concentration of the base and multiply by 100 to get percentage. Protonated means the base gains a hydrogen (proton).
