Heating Curve

How is the heating curve affected when the enthalpy of vaporization is less than that of the enthalpy of fusion? For example, when asked to draw a heating curve for a substance not specified, and H fusion= 60 kJ/mol and H vap=10 kJ/mol, what would the heating curve look like?

If heat supplied (over time) is on the x axis and temperature is on the y axis, we expect that something with a larger $\Delta H_{fus}$ will have a longer plateau. When you interpret the graph, you will see more heat must be applied (measured by the length of the plateau) until all of the sample is fused. During this time, the temperature stays at the temperature of fusion, so we see that more heat is being applied at this specific temperature.
