Tips for Arranging Equations in Calculating Enthalpy

Postby Ashley Peterson 2C » Sat Mar 16, 2024 9:45 pm

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone can tell me good tips to keep in mind when rearranging equations to calculate for enthalpy to match with the process mentioned in the problem? I notice I tend to be error prone to that and it can take a while for me to do equations like these. Help would be much appreciated!

A good way to avoid errors is to write out clearly each step of addition of products / reactants, and start a new line of equation each time. Don’t try to combine steps.

Also, you can wait until the end before cancelling anything to not get confused.

hii, when rearranging equations to calculate enthalpy, first identify the known and unknown variables. Then, use proper algebraic manipulation to isolate the variable you need to solve for. Double-check your work and ensure consistency in units to avoid errors.
