Bond Enthalpies (Method #3)

Hey everyone I was wondering if you all could help me with todays material in lecture, specifically Calculating Standard reaction enthalpy.
I was mostly confused on the process to calculate standard reaction enthalpy.
Can anyone explain using the class example of

CH4(g) +2O2(g) = CO2(g) +2H2O (l)

If anyone can further explain this example, I appreciate it and thank you in advance.

Typically, we will have a table that gives us the standard enthalpies of formation for 1 mole of a given substance. Because the standard reaction enthalpy is also a state function, the standard reaction enthalpy can be calculated by subtracting the combined standard enthalpy of formations of all the reactants from those of the products. Remember that the standard enthalpies of formation are for 1 mole of a substance, so if there are 2 moles (such as water in this example), you multiply the standard enthalpy of formation by the number of moles.
