Units for Bond Enthalpy Questions

Postby Omeed_Partovi_1L » Thu Feb 02, 2017 2:59 pm

For the book problems on bond enthalpy, it says the units are in KJ/mol and while this makes intuitive sense, the work in the course reader shows that they're multiplying the mean bond enthalpies by the number of moles of the molecule from the equation. Thus I was wondering why don't the moles cancel out and make the answer in KJ only?

The course reader does use kJ as opposed to kJ/mol when multiplying by the number of moles.

I think bond enthalpies are generally just expressed in units of kJ mol-1.
