Significant Figures of ∆H

Postby Joshua Xian 1D » Wed Jan 24, 2018 9:52 am

If we are provided with ∆H values, do we assume they have an infinite amount of significant figures (i.e. are exact values)?

Yeah, they probably do because they are confirmed experimental values.

It may depend though. If they are the only numbers we are given, we may need to default to using them for sig figs. Plus some emthalpies (I think bond enthalpies in particular) aren't always exact.

yep sig figs will depend on the smallst enthalpy value i.e 322KJ is 3 SF
