Delta H equals q when there is no work done (this could happen when the volume does not change). this means that the enthalpy change equals the heat that is exchanged between the system and its surroundings

To add, delta H can also equal w if the temperature of the system is not changing because delta h = q+w and q would then be zero.

q and H are interchangeable terms. Heat is the same thing as Enthalpy. However q is equal to U only when no work is done.
