Self prep Question

Postby martha-1I » Mon Jan 26, 2015 12:08 am

In Quiz 1 preparation (winter 2013) number 2 asks us to calculate H of the reaction Al(s) + NH4ClO4(s) ---> Al2O3(s) + AlCl3(s) + NO(g) + 6H2O(g). I was going to use the enthalpy of formation method to calculate H, but I could not find the Hf for 3 of the molecules in cover sheet. Is there another way to calculate the Hf for those molecules or will a longer list be given to us for the quiz?

A few of our classmates have already asked this question. One of the original posts is linked here: https://lavelle.chem.ucla.edu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=5078&sid=38898720bd519479c315c42e4fa70642.

For the quizzes in the workbook, you may use the appendices in the textbooks. If a similar question is asked on the actual quiz, we will be given all the information we need to solve the problem.
