bond enthalpies

When using method #2, how do you figure out which bonds are broken and formed just by looking at the lewis structures?

In the example that Dr. Lavelle used during lecture, drawing the Lewis structures reveals that the double bond between the carbons in ch2 is broken since the product (ch3ch2br) only has a single bond between the carbons. You would have to compare the Lewis structures of the reactants and the products separately to see which are broken and which are formed.

you would have to draw out the lewis structures and see which bonds were broken and formed in the products.
