how exactly is enthalpy affected by pressure?

As pressure increases, so does enthalpy (and vice versa).

Pressure and enthalpy have a direct relationship, meaning that when pressure increases so does enthalpy.

Why does enthalpy increase as temperature increases?

Under constant pressure or constant volume when the temperature of a system increases, the internal energies of the system (ie atoms and molecule energy) increase which means that the enthalpy of the system increases.
