Accuracy of Methods

Postby Elaine Steinberg 3H » Fri Jan 21, 2022 6:51 pm

Dr. Lavelle mentioned that bond enthalpies are not the most accurate way for measuring enthalpy. Are the other 2 methods more accurate and when would it be appropriate to use each?

The other two methods are more accurate and it would be appropriate to use each one depending on the information you are given. E.g. Whether bond enthalpies are available or not.

I think the other two methods are more accurate since they rely more on the fact that enthalpy is a state function rather than average values.
