Intensive properties
Is specific heat capacity the only example we have of an intensive property? If not, what are other examples?

Re: Intensive properties [ENDORSED]
I mentioned the density of water several times in class as an example of an intensive property, and discussed molar heat capacity and specific heat capacities as intensity properties.

Re: Intensive properties
Some other examples of an intensive property are boiling point, melting point, temperature, pressure, and voltage.

Re: Intensive properties
Molar heat capacity and density are both examples of other intensive properties!

Re: Intensive properties
In lecture, we spoke about extensive properties being properties that depend on the number of particles. In other words, they are depended on how much material there is. On the other hand, intensive properties depends on the type of matter and not really the amount of matter. I think by knowing the meaning of each it would be easier to distinguish examples of both. Back to your question, examples of intensive properties would be color, temperature, solubility, molar heat capacity, and so on. More specifically, if we look at temperature, it doesn't matter how much hot water you put in your tea because the temperature is going to be the same because all the water was boiled to the same temperature. More hot water is not hotter water.

Re: Intensive properties
Intensive properties differ from extensive properties because they directly depend on the amount of matter. Besides specific heat capacity, I would say that temperature, solubility, and color would be other examples of intensive heat properties.
