Molar Heat Capacity Formula of Cp and Cv

Postby VictoriaRoderick_3A » Thu Jan 21, 2016 9:09 pm

I was just wondering if there were different equations for when the pressure is constant and volume is constant. Or do you use the same equation?

Thank You.

They are present in the same equations the only difference being whether the process is constant volume or constant pressure.

When calculating Cv and Cp, the same equation is used except for the Cv calculation, you use 3/2R as the ideal gas constant and for the Cp calculation, you use 5/2R are the ideal gas constant. (This is for monoatomic molecules)
