"Sign" use for Standard Reaction Enthalpy

Postby Amber Ligason-Tiquia1G » Sun Jan 31, 2016 3:58 pm

When calculating the standard reaction enthalpy of an equation, how do we know when to use the "+" or "-" sign? Thank you.

For Hess' law if you reverse a chemical equation you switch the sign on the enthalpy for that equation, and when you're not using Hess' law you do deltaH(Prod)-deltaH(React)
