Relationship between q and w
Can someone explain to me how q and work are related? Is it possible to calculate work with just a value for q and a temperature?
Re: Relationship between q and w
q and w are related through delta U. If you have q (heat released) and a change in internal energy, you can calculate w. But I don't think you can find it with temp and q alone.
Re: Relationship between q and w
If you have the value of q then yes because internal energy= q+w so you would just solve for w
Re: Relationship between q and w
Hi! Heat (q) and work (w) are both forms of energy transfer which are related through the first law of thermodynamics which states that the change in internal energy of a system is equal to the heat added to the system minus the work done by the system w.
