Question about Heat Capacities at Constant Volume and Constant Pressure

In the book it says that the molar heat capacity of an ideal gas at constant pressure is greater than that at constant volume? Why is that?

The heat capacity at constant pressure is greater than the heat capacity at constant volume because when heat is added at constant pressure, the substance expands and work. Because some of this energy is lost due to expansion work done by the system, more energy then has to be supplied to increase the system's temperature by the same amount.

Which formulas include qp instead and qv and why is there such a difference between them? Why does qp equal deltaH and qv doesn't?
