When to use which q= equation?

Postby bridgetfoy_1D » Sun Jan 29, 2017 1:15 pm

I am confused about when to use q=mCpdeltaT (where m=mass), q=nCpdeltaT (where n=number of moles), and q=CpdeltaT? These three equations are very similar yet are all used in different problems. I'm having a hard time figuring out when to use which equation. Any help would be appreciated!

You use the one with mass when you are given or are trying to find the Specific Heat Capacity. The one with just CdeltaT is used when you are just trying to find or are given the Heat Capacity. And the Cp is the heat capacity at constant pressure.
