Mathematically, to convert from Celsius to Kelvin, you add 273.15. When you subtract two numbers that both have 273.15 added to them, they effectively cancel out, leaving you with just the final temperature minus the initial temperature but with the units now in Kelvin. Hope that helped a bit!
