Specific Heat Capacities

Postby Carlos Gonzales 1H » Sun Jan 14, 2018 9:22 pm

Will we need to memorize any specific heat capacities of materials or will we be given the information as needed?

I believe it is useful to know the specific heat capacity of water @ standard conditions because it is so commonly used and because it’ll make calculations much easier, but I’m sure for other molecules and substances the specific heat capacity will be given.

In the problems we have been given, heat capacities have been provided, so I think it is safe to assume we will be given them on tests/exams.

The only circumstance I can think of is if we are provided all the necessary information to calculate them.
