HW 8.31

When asking to calculate the amount of heat released, how do we find what the heat capacities are for the Kr gas? I understand that to find the amount of heat released, the formula is mass x heat capacity x change in temperature. I have mass and the change in temperature, but how do I find the heat capacity?

Hi, Abigail,
At constant pressure or at constant volume, the molar heat capacities of monoatomic gases are known and are equal to 5/2R (constant P) and 3/2R (constant V). This is described in the book when they talk about molar heat capacities at constant V and P.
