Bomb Calorimeters are isolated systems as nothing exchanges with the surroundings because the bomb calorimeter is insulated and does not allow heat energy to transfer to the surroundings.

I believe that bomb calorimeters can be considered isolated systems because they do not exchange matter or heat with the surroundings (what is around the calorimeter). Calorimeters are designed to measure the transfer of energy as heat. The heat of the reaction is supposed to be equal to negative heat of the calorimeter (q_rxn=-q_cal). This is a good indicator that no heat is exchanged with the surroundings.
