Heat Capacity Properties
Why is heat capacity an intensive property while specific heat capacity and molar heat capacity are extensive properties?

Since the definition of heat capacity is the amount of heat required to change the temperature of one unit of mass of a substance by one degree. It is therefore an intensive property because it has mass in its units. Since specific heat is always measured for one unit of mass of the substance the mass of the substance does not essentially matter.

Heat capacity is an extensive property because for one substance it changes when the amount of substance changes. Specific Heat Capacity and Molar Heat Capacity are intensive property because they are identical for one substance, independent on the amount.

Specific heat capacity (grams) and molar heat capacity (mols) both depend on the amount of substance present, making them extensive properties.
