How much detail do we need to know about bomb calorimeters and such?

I don't believe we need to know specifically how it works. I think the most important part is just we should assume that whenever a reaction is described as occurring in a bomb calorimeter, it is considered a completely isolated system. Therefore, no energy or matter can leave or enter, and the internal energy of the system will remain constant.

I believe we just need to know that a calorimeter is a device in which energy is transferred as heat is monitored by recording the change in temperature produced by a process taking place within it. Also it is important to know the equation: q=-Ccal (delta) T. Here, if delta T is positive, then q will be negative, which indicates the temperature has increased and energy has been released as heat by the reaction.
