calorimeters

Postby Ruiting Jia 4D » Sat Feb 02, 2019 4:44 pm

Besides knowing that a bomb calorimeter is an isolated system, should we know anything else about the bomb calorimeter or other types of calorimeters?

I think all the other information necessary for the problem will be given in the question.

The energy of the reaction should be contained inside the bomb calorimeter.

I agree... specifics that he wants us to take into further consideration would be included on a test... I would just remember that it's isolated if bomb calorimeter is used.

I think you would also want to know that a bomb calorimeter has a constant volume.

When we are given questions on exams I believe everything we need to know will be provided to us.

Some other types of calorimeters that we may need to know are reaction calorimeters and constant pressure calorimeters.

I believe we should understand the components (i.e. heat, work, enthalpy,) because we will be doing problems based off of bomb calorimeter situations.
