Calorimeter

Postby Jacob Bershatski 4C » Sun Feb 03, 2019 1:52 am

During lecture, Professor Lavelle spent a significant amount of time discussing calorimetry (i.e. bomb calorimeter). Should we be able to describe calorimetry for exams?

I don't think we need to know how to set up a calorimeter experiment specifically, but you should be able to recall that bomb calorimeters/calorimetry in general is an example of an isolation system.

I think we will need to know how to solve calculations involving calorimetry.

Focus on the processes behind the calorimeter example.

We will have to know how to do calculations involving calorimetry.

We will do calculations around a calorimeter but I don't think we will need to know how to actually use one. I would check with your TA or Lavelle during this week to make sure.

We will most likely need to know how to calculate and solve examples with the calorimeter.
