Can someone please explain why the answer to this problem is negative instead of positive?

Temperature rose as a result of the neutralization reaction which means heat was released which is shown by energy (q) being negative.

Since we are measuring the q of the reaction and we know that heat is being released, the reaction is exothermic, making the q negative.
