Why is the heat capacity for constant pressure greater than the heat capacity at constant volume?

At constant volume, the heat goes towards raising temperature but at constant pressure, some go towards work.

Under constant pressure, some of the heat can go into doing work in order to expand or compress against the surroundings. Under constant volume, no work can be done.

When heat is added under constant pressure, the substance expands and does work, whereas when heat is added under a constant volume, no work is done.
