Heat capacity

How is heat capacity a state function? What does that mean for heat capacities.

Heat capacity is a state function because its value doesn't depend on the way by which the temperature was changed or the path taken to add or subtract heat. The heat capacity is determined by the overall change in these two factors.

Basically, you don't have to worry about the process of determining the heat capacity. Just worry about the heat capacity itself, which usually functions as a constant.
