Calorimeter Calibration
Sorry to ask, but I'm still confused as to how to calibrate a calorimeter and how to use that value.

Re: Calorimeter Calibration
I'm not certain this is what you're asking but if you're talking about finding the heat capacity of the calorimeter?? the equation is Ccal= q/ΔT, and you can use other equations to find q.

Re: Calorimeter Calibration
We would use ccal = qcal / delta T, where qcal = c*deltaT, or m*Cs*deltaT for specific heat capacity, or n*Cm*deltaT for molar heat capacity. Also, I'm not sure if this is answering what you asked, but remember that qcal = -q.

Re: Calorimeter Calibration
To calibrate the calorimeter, all you need to do is divide heat gained by the calorimeter (or heat lost by the reaction) by the change in temperature.
Ccal=qcal/delta T
Ccal=qcal/delta T

Re: Calorimeter Calibration
The purpose of calibrating the calorimeter is to obtain the heat capacity of the calorimeter, which you can later use to find qrxn.
