Textbook 4A.1.c
Why is "a bomb calorimeter in which benzene is burned" is an isolated system? I thought it would be a closed system because there would be a change in temperature.

Hi there! A bomb calorimeter is placed in an insulated container to prevent heat or matter from escaping into the surroundings. Although there is heat released, it is contained within the system because it is inside the insulated container. Hi, since the change in temperature is happening within the system, there would be no exchange of heat with the surroundings.
Re: Textbook 4A.1.c
An isolated system is one in which there is no exchange of heat or matter. Because a bomb calorimeter is placed in an insulated container, matter and heat are trapped inside and can not be exchanged with the environment.
