Audio-Visual Focus-Topics, Assessments & Surveys
Hello. I was wondering if the 4 modules for the chem review are due this Friday along with the 7 problems, or if they are due on a different day. Also, I saw that we can retake them, so does it take our highest grade or just the grade after our first attempt or is it just an effort grade?

Im not sure when they are due but the assessment scores don't affect our grades at all. So it just matters if you do them or not.

TA told me that Dr. Lavelle actually meant to say he highly recommends doing the topics. They arent graded, but you are encouraged to do them.

I'm pretty sure the Audio-Visual Focus-Topics, Assessments & Surveys do not affect our grades. They're just supplemental questions and videos to assist with the coursework.
Re: Audio-Visual Focus-Topics, Assessments & Surveys
Yes, the audio-visual focus-topics are not due. It doesn't take a whole lot of time to do, and it does make the homework much easier. Plus, the topics covered in his lectures are on the modules as well, so after lectures it is helpful to do the modules to review what was taught in class.

Hi it says required on the website but I think the actual homework that is due is the seven problems. The modules will probably help greatly for the coming tests though.

Yea, its no way linked to our grades, and I believe that you appear anonymous when you do the modules.

Currently doing the modules, and for the ones in which topics were covered in class, the problems he does are the same as the ones from class. Seems useful for reviewing for tests or if you miss class, or want to review prior to class though

Hi! Even though they aren't required and it is no way identifiable, I found them extremely useful and great as a tool to refresh what happened in the lecture. There are also a lot of good example problems that might help for future quizzes and a great way to review for the final. I plan on doing them a few times throughout the quarter to keep the earlier lectures fresh in my mind.

If you look at the outline for week 2 there are 4 additional suggested video assessments, but I think that is all the videos that are suggested for the quarter (unless he uploads more to the site later on). I think these videos are just to help start us off at the beginning of the year and cover mostly review topics.

Yea when I did the modules they don't ask for our name or UID so I'm assuming that its just review for self benefit. It was actually a good refresher from summer break.

I am wondering at what pace we should complete the assessments and surveys? A set of Pre, Lecture, and post each week? How may sets of three should we complete a week?
Re: Audio-Visual Focus-Topics, Assessments & Surveys
I think he recommended to have done the first 8 topics by the end of week 2!

Re: Audio-Visual Focus-Topics, Assessments & Surveys
According to the audio-visual focus-topics instructions, we are meant to have 8 modules done by the end of week 2, but we are not graded on any of them. Although they are not mandatory, they seem to be very helpful so it is probably best to complete them anyway.

Re: Audio-Visual Focus-Topics, Assessments & Surveys
Like many of the comments above say, the modules aren't due but it is recommended to do the modules before we learn the material in lectures OR they can be used as a tool to supplement learning in the lectures; thus, you could do the modules right after a lecture to strengthen your understanding of the material. But whether you do the module before, during or after the lectures, you should (but don't have to) finish the modules by the end of next week! Hope this helps because I saw a lot of people replying that the modules weren't graded but not many addressed when you should do them or why they are important!
Re: Audio-Visual Focus-Topics, Assessments & Surveys
The chem review audio-visual focus topics are only suggested and are given with suggestive deadlines. They are solely an extra resource and should be finished when we are reviewing each topic. I highly suggest you do them they are great practice!
Re: Audio-Visual Focus-Topics, Assessments & Surveys
The Audio-Visual Focus-Topics, Assessments, and Surveys aren't graded and don't have a due date. They act as resources for us whether it's practice problems or just to refresh our memories before class/exams. Dr. Lavelle can see how many students completed them and our grades on them, but it is anonymous.
