How does amphoteric work? How does it work with acid and base pairs?

Amphoteric substances can react both as an acid and a base. When in the presence of an acid, they act as a base, and when in the presence of a base, they act like an acid. This dual behavior allows them to pair up and react with both acids and bases, making them quite versatile in chemical reactions.
