Length Units
As Dr. Lavelle mentioned during lecture today, the SI unit for length is measured in meters (m). However, he also mentioned that we would need to utilize these SI units to convert them into other units depending on the type of problem. My question is: when not specifically asked for the answer in a certain kind of unit, should we automatically infer that SI units are the default means of quantifying something?

Re: Length Units
Yeah, I think that we do automatically infer that we answer in SI units since he went over SI units in lecture and since they apply to scientific notation.

Re: Length Units
Yes, when the units are not specified I think we would always answer the question in SI units.

Re: Length Units
Yes, you should use SI units unless otherwise specified explicitly in the question.

Re: Length Units
I agree, usually the question will specify the units to convert to or start your conversions with.

Re: Length Units
Hey Perla,
Yes, the safest bet would be to always put the answer in proper SI units. Unless specifically said otherwise in the question.

Re: Length Units
It really does not matter as you have the correct units with the right number as they mean the same thing. If you want to default to SI units, that is also fine.

Re: Length Units
This is a bit embarrassing, but I was wondering if anyone knows of the the best way to memorize conversions between various units. Do you guys have any videos or resources for me to memorize?
