### moles to atoms

when converting from moles to number of atoms do you multiply by avogadros number because I thought I heard divide by it in lecture?

### Re: moles to atoms

to convert from mols to atoms you would multiply by Avogadro's number since there are 6.022* 10^23 atoms per 1 mole.

When going from moles to atoms, you would multiply by Avogadro's number. Since Avogadro's number is 6.02x10^23 atoms per mole, then multiplying this by an amount already in moles would cause the moles to cancel, and you are only left with the number of atoms.

Think of it as a ratio, and consider what operation will cause undesired units to cancel and leave the desired units. Hope this helps!

to convert you would need to multiply by Avogadro's number, because as you multiply you will cancel "mol" and be left with number of atoms for that mol.
