Converting between Temperatures (K,C,F)

Postby Julia Lee » Wed Oct 03, 2018 10:20 am

Hey, do any of you guys know whether there is a way to convert from Fahrenheit to Kelvin and vice versa without converting to Celsius first?

To go from F to K you just need to subtract 32 from your initial temp, multiply the number by 5 and divide by 9 . Then you add 273.15 to your answer. This can be reversed to go from Kelvin to F too.

The difference between Kelvin and Celsius is just 273 degrees, so when you calculate from Fahrenheit to Kelvin, you still go through the same (F-32)*(5/9) but add 273 afterwards. The answer to your question is yes you can calculate from F to K, but it is still just doing F to C to K.

Hey!

Here are the formulas:

To convert between Celsius and Fahrenheit, use this: Fahrenheit = (1.8 x Celsius) + 32 or the inverse to convert in the other direction
To convert between Kelvin and Celsius, use this: Kelvin = Celsius + 273.15

Hope this helps :)

In response to the OP, there is essentially no way to go straight from Fahrenheit to Kelvin or vice versa without including the steps for Celsius.
