Converting units in problems

So I was doing review problems and I was wondering for our answers, should they always be in meters or kilometers?

For example, for question E1 on the fundamentals homework, I have the answer in pm, so do I need to know the conversions to get to meters/kilometers or will I be given the conversion of how many pm are in one meter.

The SI unit for length is meter, so use that unless the question states otherwise. You are also expected to know the prefixes that we discussed in class.

If there are units in any problem that are not proper SI units that we recognize, for example, mL instead of L, you should always convert it to be safe. Unless the problem specifically asks for that unit always assume you're going to use the SI units.

Must we always show our work when converting units in problems, or can it be assumed by the grader?
