Sodium bromide, NaBr, which is used to produce AgBr for use in photographic film, can itself be prepared as follows.
Fe + Br2 -> FeBr2
FeBr2 + Br2 -> Fe3Br8
Fe3Br8 + Na2CO3 -> NaBr + CO2 + Fe3O4
What mass of iron, in kilograms, is needed to produce 2.50 t of NaBr? Note that these equations must first be balanced!
After balancing the equation, do I have to convert 2.50t to grams in order to continue? If so, what is the conversion rate?

I believe you do have to convert to grams, because you will need to use molar ratios and molar masses are measured to g/mol^-1. I found that there are 907185 g in one US ton.

You will need to convert tonnes into grams. For the conversion rate, 1 tonne = 1000 kg.

1 ton is 2,000 lbs and 1 tonne is 1000kg so it depends on what your question asks for, it sounds like this is just dimensional analysis to get to your answer.
