Should we know the formula for certain anions/cations formulas for our quiz?
Ex:
should we know what acetate, etc is? or sulfate? would it be given to us?
Thanks!

I made sure to ask Dr. Lavelle this same question! For this quiz, we don't have to know the formulas of anions or cations like the ones you exemplified. However, expect to have to know some in the future for later quizzes!

I asked him this same question as well! For this quiz specifically, we do not need to know the names of specific cations and anions. He said that the way we will eventually memorize them is over time by practicing questions and solving problems. It will become second nature to us.

For the first test, will we need to be able to identify molecular formulas from their written name? For example in problem F3.) “Write the formula for nitric acid”

We have to be able to form a chemical equation based on the molecules that will be provided in the question!

Molecular formulas will be given!
