State of the molecules
On the test, if we are given a word problem to balance a chemical reaction, do we have to write the state the molecules are in?

I would write it just in case, but I don't think we're expected to know what the states would be unless they're given to us. Good luck!!

I think I remember Professor Lavelle saying that for now we don't need to know the phases, but that in the future we will need to know (and write the phases on chemical equations) without having them given to us.

I've also heard that we aren't expected to be able to identify different states of matter in the equation (like whether or not it's aqueous using solubility rules) so I don't think it'll be required of us!
