Problem E.1

Postby Malik Oda 1F » Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:27 pm

I was reviewing topics for the chemistry test 1 and I looked over the solution manual and noticed that in problem E.1, the solution converted all the way to km. Would it be okay if I left my final answer as pico-meters rather than convert to meters then kilometers if a similar problem were to show up on the test?

Yes, it will be fine as long as you have the correct number of sig. fig. in your expression. An exception to this would be if the question explicitly asks you to express your answers in specific units.

I think it will be fine to leave it unless specified, but I would still make sure you know how to convert to pico and km just in case.
