HELP WITH UNITS

For questions for chem in general, do you give the answer in the units that the question uses? I've been converting everything to the standard units (meters, liters, Kelvin, kilograms, seconds) regardless of what the equation gives. Am I supposed to keep the answer in the units that the question has? I really need to know before the midterm tomorrow so I don't get everything wrong!!!

you should follow what the question wants as the final result, most of the time it will ask in standard units so you will be fine.

It doesn't matter! It's probably better to convert to SI units so that when you plug numbers into equations, the equations work correctly, but for the final answer it doesn't matter if it's in (for example) km or m.

For solving the problem you will most likely have to convert to SI units. For the final answer you can use whatever unit you want unless the question specified what unit to give in your answer.

It depends on the problem and what units the equation you are using uses. Sometimes it will give you a certain unit and the final question will ask you to convert it to a different unit.

often times, if you do the dimensional analysis correctly and what not, the units should cancel itself and you should be left with the right unit in the end

Often time when you are done with a problem, the end result you get should be in standard units. But honestly I think any unit should be fine since they are refer back to the same amount (assuming you have the correct results).

Make sure when completing calculations you are using base SI units. These are units such as meters, seconds, and kilograms. This will ensure you are using the correct values in order to successfully cancel out other units. If you do calculations with centimeters, for example, you could end up with a completely different and incorrect result than if you first converted to meters. Prefixes like centi- and milli- are often used for convenience in answers and conversation but should not be used in calculation unless specifically noted in the problem.
