Mole notation

Postby Funmi Baruwa » Fri Oct 09, 2020 11:11 am

When we write molar mass do we use the notaion g.mol^-1 or g/mol or are they interchangeable?

They are interchangeable because mol^-1 is the same as 1/mol, but normally I use g/mol when I'm writing out a problem. Hope this helps!

They are interchangeable and are both acceptable, so it comes down to personal preference.

They are the same so either is fine! Whichever you prefer.

They are interchangeable and are equivalent in value. I personally use g/mol because I think the negative exponent doesn't look as "clean", but it comes down to what you feel most comfortable with.

Hello,
g.mol^-1 is the same as g/mol the ^-1 just means the mol is in the denominator.

They're interchangeable! Personally, I like to use g/mol because it's easier to work with when doing dimensional analysis. Both are fine though; the negative exponent in mols automatically puts mols on the denominator.

g.mol^-1 and g/mol are interchangeable so you can use whichever you prefer!
