Re: converting from photons to moles
Hi Emily,
Just like the previous comment stated, you’ll want to take the number of photons you have and multiply by the fraction of 1 mole over 6.022 * 10^23 photons. Then you could just cross out photons to make sure those are accounted for and you’ll be left with only # of moles.

Re: converting from photons to moles
Hi! To convert from an amount of anything, such as photons, atoms, molecules, etc., you would need to divide the amount by Avagadro's number 6.022*10^23, and you should arrive at the number of moles. For going from moles to photons, you would just do the opposite and multiply the number of moles by Avagadro's constant. Hope this helps:)

A mol is just an amount of something, it doesn't strictly have to belong to a number of atoms although that is a common use. To go from photons to mol just divide by Avogadro's number (6.022*10^23) and that will give the amount in terms of mol.

Re: converting from photons to moles
As an additional note, remember that a mole is just ~6.022 x 10^34 (avogadro's number) of "stuff" (photons, molecules, ions, etc.).

Re: converting from photons to moles
You would use Avogadro's number. So, for every 1 mol, there are 6.022x10^23 photons. x number of photons times 1 mol/6.022x10^23 photons would give you the number of moles.

Hi!
You need to divide by Avagadro's # to get the number of moles, and from moles to photons, you would multiply by Avagadro's number.

are there certain keywords I need to watch out for with regards to converting from energy to moles?

Re: converting from photons to moles
You would divide by Avogadro's number in order to get the fraction of photon/mol.
