If we have carboxylic acid on one end and aldehyde on the other end, which one has a higher priority? In other words, which is named first in the nomenclature?

It is always in alphabetical order and the lowest numbers first.

The carboxylic acid has higher priority so you would have to name the aldehyde as a substituent.
