Hmwk 1.25

The problem asks to name the alkene. I thought that the longest C chain was of 6 Carbon atoms, but according to the answer, it's a heptene. Why is this so?

it's 7 because there are 2 on the left of the double bond + 2 connected by the double bond + 3 on the right of the double bond
