For the name of the alkene I got 1,4 Dimethyl 2 butene but the answer is 3,4 dimethyl 3 heptene. Why is that? I thought that for the double bond it gets priority so it is 2 and the two methyl groups are on the 1st and 4th carbon. Also I drew out the structure and got 4 carbons on the longest chain while the CCH2H3 was on the 2nd carbon and CH2CH2CH3 was on the 3rd carbon. Where did I go wrong?

I think where you went wrong on this question is not taking into consideration the top right carbon group as part of the long chain when numbering.
