Is cyclohexene really benzene?

Cyclohexene is a cyclohexane with a single double bond.

Benzene has three double bonds (not considering the resonance hybrid, which is a better approximation of benzene).

cyclohex-1,3,5-ene would technically describe our simple structure of benzene, but it suggests that the electrons are "locked" in place, but we know they're delocalized. So we don't use this name.
