Multiple double or triple bonds

If a cycloalkene or alkyne or a normal Alkene or alkyne has multiple double or triple bonds, in the naming do you put a prefix indicating how many double or triple bonds there are? Such as 1,4- dialkene, or just 1,4- alkene?

Hi Chelsey!! I don't think you have to put a prefix indicating the amount of double or triple bonds that are present in a cyclo-alkene/alkyne; the numbering in front of the name should be enough to indicate the position and amount of double or triple bonds involved in the molecule.

Actually, a prefix needs to be used when there are multiple double/triple bonds present. For example, if there is a pentene with double bonds on the 1st and 3rd carbon, you would write it as pent-1,3-diene.
