Hi, can someone help explain why they numbered it like this instead of how I numbered it?

In a ring, the double bond must be counted as carbon 1. If we start on the left side of the double bond and count clockwise, our substituents are at carbons 2,3,4,4. If we stare on the right side of the double bond and count counterclockwise, our substituents are 1,5,5,6.

Remember, there is no such thing as this adding rule. It doesn't matter that the way you numbered it gives a smaller total number. You just line them up:
2-3-4-4
1-5-5-6

Starting from the left, 1 beats 2 (for lower number) and since we must name our molecule using the lowest numbers possible, the name is 1,5,5,6-tetraemethyl-cyclohexene.
