Alkene, Alkyne

Postby Curtis Ngo_4E » Fri Mar 04, 2016 1:57 am

Though I have yet to see this come up in the questions provided, if is a molecule such that both a double and a triple bond exists within the parent chain, which gets priority in numbering? Is it an Alkene or an Alkyne?

Alkenes and Alkynes are said to have equal priority. That means both "ene" and "yne" will be present in the name. This link can help:

Return to “*Alkynes”
